FAQ
Short, honest answers.
Do I need to sign up?
Yes. A magic-link sign-in is required to use the breathing app. We use email as your account identifier; no password to forget. The marketing pages (this one, the patterns, the journal) are open to everyone.
Why require sign-in?
To keep your practice on every device, and to give you a real history that survives a browser reset. We considered keeping it server-less; we decided cross-device continuity was worth the trade-off.
Where is my data stored?
In our database, scoped to your account via row-level security. Your sessions are private to you. You can export the lot as JSON or delete it any time from your history page.
Is it all free?
Box and the basics are free. Three more patterns, the custom builder, all programs, voice guide, ambient soundscapes, and full history are part of Premium (£3 a month or £25 a year, or local equivalent). Why not free? So we can keep working on it.
Which pattern should I start with?
Box if unsure. It is the gentlest, the most balanced, and the easiest to learn. Or use the mood picker on the patterns page if you want it chosen for you.
Does this replace medical or mental-health care?
No. If something is wrong, talk to someone qualified. Breath practice is a small, useful tool, not a treatment.
Can I install it as an app?
Yes. On Chrome, Edge, and Android there is an install prompt on your history page. On iPhone or iPad, open this site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
How long should I do this for?
One minute is enough. More is more. There is no virtuous length, and there is no minimum that counts.
Why so plain?
Less is more in this space. A loud interface is the opposite of what slowing down feels like.
